It’s been a very, very long time

So, it’s been a long time and I haven’t written in here.

So, to catch you up to speed.

I started off at Campbell-Ewald in November of 2008 as an Account Coordinator/Traffic position. If you are unfamiliar with what this position is, it is one of the most important roles in an advertising agency, but is the least respected. Needless to say, I absolutely loved my time here. I worked with so many great people on so many accounts plus gained the exposure to be able to meet everyone within the agency no matter of title or role/responsibility.

One of my favorite parts of this position was my assignment to work with an intern to develop a new business prospect/pitch to bring in a local Detroit business to our agency. This is where I met Steve Mannino, who’s blog you can read here: Steve Mannino on WordPress. Steve was interning with the social media department under Dave Linabury. Our presentation and overall project turned out wonderfully, and you can see what our door opener was here: http://intern.campbell-ewald.com Login: dmcguffie PW: campusmartius.

After being a coordinator for 11 months, I then moved into a social media planner role for the Chevrolet account. Here’s where everything really took off as I was able to work on the largest advertiser in the world for almost a year in the most evolving media of the time. During this time, I really grew into my passion for creating usable, relevant and most importantly engaging content for our client. Sadly, Chevrolet left Campbell-Ewald (or rather continues to leave C-E) beginning in April 2010.

I am apologizing for my ramblings, but I think it is time I get back to writing in this in order to 1. Document my experiences 2. Begin to organize my thoughts a little bit clearer over time.

So today, November 15, 2010, is exactly 728 days since I started at C-E. At exactly 2 years from my first day (230 days), will be my last day at the agency. I never truly understood the words “Mixed Emotions” before because I was never in a position where they reflected what I felt, until this moment. I am very sad that I am leaving all of the people I have met, because I cherish each and everyone of them. Some may have been assholes, but even they taught me so much.

But I am fortunate that I am taking my learnings and experiences on to something new, which would not have been possible without the foundation I have built from my 4 years at Michigan State, and incredible internship with Ingenex in Ann Arbor, and the past 2 years at C-E.

Please stay tuned as I will continue to update my progress.

Thank you everyone at C-E. You guys kick ass and any client will be lucky to have you as an agency. It’s amazing how much heart and soul and how much personal responsibility and emotion is put into these accounts. That is fucking dedication.

Love you guys.

Kevin
