Professional Social Media websites have begun to grow in popularity in recent years. More and more people and businesses are using websites like Linkedin.com and Naymz.com. These sites enable users to brand themselves and others, network within the targeted industry with ease, and provides a digital, condensed resume and portfolio.
Through the use of search engine optimization, the use of social media websites has enabled users to take control of their own personal branding. When users develop a consistent social profile over many sites, they are able to demonstrate a formal and businesslike image that can be seen whenever a person or business is “Google’d.”
Further, these new websites offer users the opportunity to combine their resume and work experience into a profile that also contains recommendations and testimonials of past work.
With all of these benefits in mind, it is important that business leaders and businesses alike take advantage of this new technology capable of introducing the right type of people and businesses together. These profiles can increase traffic to a certain website in addition to being able to provide the user with the opportunity to brand themselves and/or their company.
It is important that a business link up with all of its employees to provide a company overview that also serves as a connection within the organization as well as a detailed index of employees. While it is important that businesses show their internal organization, it is also useful to use these networking websites to evaluate possible client leads.
As everyone is beginning to move toward a digital age, it would make sense that eventually industry connections and personal Rolodex are soon to follow. It is vital to make the change as an individual and an organization to move networking and branding into the digital age in order to survive the ever-changing business world.
